Physical Education
The Physical Education Program (P.E.) at OLPH School is designed to help its students achieve his/her optimum personal development and be able to maintain a healthy lifestyle well into their adult life. Mrs. Martina Kerns provides P.E. instruction for students from Pre-K through eighth grades.
Pre- K students enjoy P.E. instruction every other week, while the remaining grades receive instruction once a week.
The P.E. curriculum will help students become competent in the following areas during their tenure at
OLPH. All areas are explored and taught in an age/grade appropriate and adapted, if needed, manner.

Locomotor Skills (running, hopping, skipping, etc.) - Nonlocomotor Skills (bending, twisting, turning, etc.)
- Manipulative Skills (striking, kicking, catching, throwing, etc.)
- Movement Concept Skills (body awareness, space awareness)
- Rhythmic Movement Skills (performing movement in rhythm)
- Specialized Motor Skills (tumbling, specific sports and its skills – i.e. volleyball)
- Health and Wellness (knowledge of the body and its systems, physical fitness testing and evaluation)
- Positive Self Concept and Social Skills (cooperative learning activities, directional skills, sportsmanship development, self discipline activities)
- Lifetime Participation (appreciation of specialized lifetime physical skills and sports/activities)
