Guidance Counselor

Our religious theme for the 2011-2012 school year is “And the greatest of these is LOVE.”

It is condensed from Matthew 22: 36-39.

My goal as guidance counselor is to impart a feeling of love and care to our students while teaching them the qualities of respect, responsibility and resilience.  I work with the students on life skills and self-esteem, cooperation, responsibility, making good choices, conflict resolution, dealing with disappointment, appreciating self, time management, study skills and friendship issues to name a few.

This is done through individual and group counseling and classroom teaching.  We work on grief counseling, peer relationships, academic issues, and conferences with parents, teachers and outside agencies.  I use Catholic Elementary Programs sponsored by the Chief Administrators of Catholic Education.  As their forward to “Supervision, Personnel and Curriculum” states, “It fosters values as a resource to provide a warm, nurturing learning environment for the healthy development of children who bring Christ into the world.”

Mother Teresa says:

“Joy is prayer-
  Joy is strength-
  Joy is love-
Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.”

If you have any questions or would like to schedule guidance session for your child please contact me at emcadams@olphschool.org  or visit my website here.  I look on guidance sessions as a way to bring this love and joy to our students.
