Library

Library for the primary grades is very exciting!!

We teach the library rules, the parts of a book, and how to care for all books. Students learn about many authors and illustrators and how the books are placed on the shelf in alphabetical order by the author. We teach them how to choose a book off the shelf, mark the spot, look through it and make sure it is a good choice for the week. The highlight is checking out books and getting to take it home for a week until they return again to library again. We end each class with a fun activity that is tied into the theme of the week.

Spanish

Our Spanish Program focuses on developing and implementing a Pre-K – 8 language instructional program and providing equitable access to rigorous coursework in Spanish. The program is designed to prepare school system graduates to thrive in a dynamic world through cultural understanding and becoming proficient in the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Spanish.

Technology

OLPH School believes that technology has the power to enhance teaching, learning, and communication. Technology provides an avenue for communication, collaboration, problem solving, and efficiency.  Every student from Pre-K to 8th Grade participates in one block of technology class per week where they learn how to responsibly use the tools of our ever-changing technological world. Students in grades 3-8 enjoy a one-to-one Chromebook program while younger grades use iPads and/or Chromebook tablets.

Art
