Recently, our Second Grade had their first virtual meeting with our partner school in Florida using Empatico (a program that connects schools around the world with video conferencing and conversations). Empatico was provided to Archdiocesan schools through a grant. The focus of this first interaction was a meet and greet, with each student introducing him/herself. Our students also got to describe what a snow storm was like (something they were surprised the other students hadn’t experienced before!!), and what school is like. Both schools shared that they wear uniforms to school and enjoyed talking about their specials classes!
Our students even asked what it was like as Hurricane Dorian was passing through and our partner class students described the ways they prepared and how they felt during it. What an awesome tool for learning how to communicate with others, and seeing life from other students’ perspectives! We look forward to future conversations!
